Prerequisites

  • Current version of Genie Client & Genie Single User (Genie Solo) installed on the doctor’s laptop. Go to this page to check the latest Genie version.
  • If a Genie software update is required it will need to be done when all users can log out and all offsite logging laptops are available in the rooms and connected to the local network.
  • A password set in Genie for the user/doctor wanting to do database replication.
  • Recent data file must exist in the \Genie (Windows) or /Applications/Genie (Mac) folder on the offsite logging/replication laptop computer.
  • SQL Server running from within the Genie Server application on the server.

Setup Replication

  • From Genie Client on the offsite logging computer login in as the doctor user
  • Choose File > Maintenance & Reports > Administrator  ALT+click on Create CopyData Script.
  • Tick Enable Replication. The two indicators to the right will turn green to indicate successful activation.
  • Click on Export the Server Configuration to save a copy of the Server IP Address and SQL Server Port details to your computer.

Perform Replication

  • Launch Genie Solo on the replication machine
  • Provided there is an active network connection and no replication has been performed in the last 30 minutes, the user will be prompted to replicate the database.
  • To force the replication window to open, hold down the ?CTRL key while launching Genie Solo from the desktop or dock icon.
  • Allow the replication to run to completion, including the replication of the \Genie\Images folder which may take some time depending on the size of the Images folder.
