Steps (4 total)
1 Add account
Expand
Click on ADD

2 Configure BASIC settings
Expand
Set PROTOCOL to XMPP
Username is your userID for the Google Apps Domain
Domain is the Google Apps domain
Resource is “gmail.com” without quotes
Password is your password.
Click SAVE

3 Configure ADVANCED settings
Expand
Verify
Connection Security shows REQUIRE ENCRYPTION
Connect Port shows 5222
Enter “talk.google.com” into Connect Server
File Transfer Proxies should remain whatever is default
BOSH URL should stay blank
Show Custom Smilies should be checked.
Create this new account.. should be unchecked!
Hit Save

4 Connect!
Your new IM account will be listed on the Accounts screen. Check the checkbox next to the account, and it will connect!
