Licensing on Windows Terminal Servers sometimes need to be reset. Make sure you know what you are doing and have backups.

  • Locate and then delete the following registry keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\RCM\Certificate , X509 Certificate, X509 Certificate ID, X509 Certificate2
  • NOTE – Please make sure you do this in the VM Console, not over RDP:
  • Reactivate the Terminal Services Licensing server. You don’t have to reinstall licenses.
  • Reboot the Licensing/TS servers.
