Best Practice – Find patients who have attended your practice in the last 2 years with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status
The BP search screen allows you to search for patients with particular attributes. In this case we’re going to combine Demographics with Visits to get a list of patients with ATSI status who have attended in the last two years.
Start a new search and click on Visits. Once again select your From and To dates to limit the query to patients presenting between these dates, click Add to continue.
Best Practice searches for active patients by default, and we want to include inactive patients in this search, so tick the box “Include inactive patients”.
Next hit “Demographics”.
On the left column, scroll down and click on “ATSI”. In the lower right column, you’ll see that we have three choices – we are going to select all three. Click on them one at a time and click Add:
Click OK to come back to the Database Search screen. We’re going to edit the query before we run it. BP has added each status with AND between them. Running this will probably find no patients. We want to find patients with either of the ATSI statuses. To acheive this, change both the second and third AND to OR:
Your final query should look like the below. Before you run it, I suggest you hit “Save query” so that you can keep it. You can come back and use the query again, just change the dates to suit.
Once you’ve run the query and got some results, save the patient list for later using the Disk icon:
We recommend that you save the outputs as the CSV file type. That way you can edit them later in a spreadsheet program like Excel. Give it a name and make sure you save it in a safe place! The default location is the Best Practice folder underneath Documents.
