Best Practice – Using the Database Search tool to identify patients

Best Practice allows us to search the database to find patients with particular attributes.
The results of these searches can be saved (to XML which can be re-imported later, or to CSV format), or you can work with them by using results in a mail merge, or adding a reminder to each patient found.

For a tutorial in using this tool, see BP documentation:

https://kb.bpsoftware.net/bppremier/orchid/Utilities/Search/SearchingtheDatabase.htm

NOTE: Patients who have Deny access to other users set in the patient demographic are excluded from appearing in search utility results

Select Utilities > Search from the main menu to view the Database Search screen.

This video introduces you to the BP Database Search Tool and runs your first search – a list of all active patients in your database and is used to establish your practice population size. Accurately determining your population becomes the denominator for any future data analysis you may conduct.

Note that this is just the default search in the BP Database search tool – from BP Premier go to Utilities / Search, then click “Run query” to run this all active patients search.
